Seniors Farmers' Market

Nutrition Program

The South Carolina Department of Social Services in partnership with other state agencies and local organizations, will be conducting the Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP).  (Click here for a listing of counties and the sites for enrollment).  The SFMNP, which is funded by USDA, offers nutrition assistance to low income people age 60 and older by providing coupons for free produce at local farmer’s markets.  Each eligible person can get $25 worth of coupons that may be used at participating farmers' markets (Click here for a listing of participating farmers).

The coupons will be issued at various locations in each of the participating counties.  Click on the link above for the specific locations and dates of enrollment as well as contact persons.

In order to receive the free coupons, individuals must apply in person, and provide proof of their identity and residence and household income.

The goals of the program are to supplement the diets of low-income seniors with fresh, nutritious produce and to support South Carolina's small farmers.
